About

The Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment (SLBE) programme is a two-year, part-time, University of Cambridge Master's for all built environment professionals. The course has been designed specifically for professionals working in the built environment who want to deliver sustainable and resilient places and spaces which are crucial to our common future. It brings together professionals from all the built environment disciplines to explore the radical change and innovation needed to achieve this through the interdisciplinary, collaborative effort and visioning of all the disciplines and professions working together within the design team.

The Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors Scholarship supports two Sustainability Leadership for the Built Environment Master's students from anywhere in the world.

Applicants are required to demonstrate their interest in, and commitment to, sustainability in the built environment. As such, the research proposal, submitted as part of the SLBE Master's application, will be used as a key criterion to award the bursary in the competitive selection process.

Applicants are required to complete a scholarship application form. Within this form, candidates will be asked to comment on:

  • Why they would like to be considered for the scholarship.
  • How they believe that attending the course will be of benefit to them and relevant to their career aspirations.
  • How they hope to use learning from the programme to benefit the wider profession (candidates may make reference to their research proposal if appropriate).

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Meet the course entry criteria.
  • Be able to demonstrate their interest in and commitment to sustainable built environments.
  • Submit a full application to the SLBE Master’s either before, or alongside, their scholarship application by the published course application deadline.

The scholarship will be awarded to the successful applicants once they have received an offer of admission to the SLBE Master’s following the competitive selection process and fulfil any admission conditions set by the University.

The Worshipful Company may wish to ask the recipient to present their findings or share the results of their research. 

If requested, the scholarship recipient must also be willing to submit a short testimonial describing their experiences on the course for use (print and online) by The Worshipful Company and CISL.
