The Cambridge Japan and the World Graduate Scholarships were created in 2016 to support talented scholars wanting to pursue a graduate degree in Japanese Studies at the University of Cambridge. Awards are made for one year for MPhil students, or three years for PhD students. Announcement of awards will generally be made in March, but additional studentships may become available until July.
Students will be required to remain in good standing during their course, and be expected to submit a yearly report of their progress.
All students in Japanese Studies admitted to the postgraduate programmes for the period beginning 2024 are eligible. Preference will be given to those whose research aims to place Japan within the larger context of the world, either in a multilateral focus or through its disciplinary impact.
