About

The Hill Foundation Scholarship is available to applicants who are nationals of and ordinarily resident in the Russian Federation and who are applying to any full-time Master's or PhD courses at the University of Cambridge.  It is tenable at any College of the University of Cambridge and in any subject excluding premium rate courses.

It is the intention of both the Foundation and the Trust that graduates of the programme make a meaningful contribution to the development of Russia and promote east/west understanding. In the past, graduates have returned to Russia to make their contribution directly in country and it is hoped that in the future this will be possible again.

  • Applicants must:
  • be nationals of and ordinarily resident in the Russian Federation. Your country of residence is the country in which you are normally resident, out of choice and for a settled purpose, apart from temporary or occasional absences. It is not a country in which you are studying, working or living temporarily.
  • have a first degree from a Russian university, or have started and remained at a Russian University for at least 3 years without completing a degree course.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously enrolled in any other degree program outside of Russia.

The Trust’s awarding period runs from the middle of February to the end of July and is an ongoing process throughout that period. Most of our awards are made early during the months of February and March, but some of our partner funded awards involve additional processes such as interviews, which means funding decisions tend to be later from April to June. Although we cannot provide funding updates for individual applicants, the Trust will confirm on our website once we have finished issuing offers for our main scholarship programmes. Throughout the awarding period the Trust will be reallocating awards that have not been taken up. Therefore, all applicants will remain under consideration for any reallocated award for which they are eligible until the end of July. If you have not been contacted by the Trust by the end of July, you should assume that your funding application has not been successful.
