About

The Charlie Perkins Cambridge Scholarship is available to Masters or PhD applicants from Australia who are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. The scholarship is tenable at any College of the University of Cambridge and in any subject excluding premium rate courses.

This fund is offered in partnership with the Charlie Perkins Scholarship Trust and Cambridge Australia Scholarships.

Please note, you must apply via an external application to the funding partner as well as opting into this fund in the funding section of the Cambridge admissions application in order to be considered.

Key dates

To ensure that they are considered for this scholarship, applicants must: 1) apply for admission to the University of Cambridge by the funding deadline specific to their course (please refer to the Postgraduate Course Directory) and get a conditional offer of admission, and 2) check with the Charlie Perkins Trust the funding call deadlines and details of the application process, and apply accordingly.

The Trust’s awarding period runs from the middle of February to the end of July and is an ongoing process throughout that period. Most of our awards are made early during the months of February and March, but some of our partner funded awards involve additional processes such as interviews, which means funding decisions tend to be later from April to June. Although we cannot provide funding updates for individual applicants, the Trust will confirm on our website once we have finished issuing offers for our main scholarship programmes. Throughout the awarding period the Trust will be reallocating awards that have not been taken up. Therefore, all applicants will remain under consideration for any reallocated award for which they are eligible until the end of July. If you have not been contacted by the Trust by the end of July, you should assume that your funding application has not been successful.
