About

Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute (CRUK CI) offers a number of fully-funded 4-year postgraduate studentships annually, covering either Home or Overseas University fees as required, and a generous stipend of £21,000 per annum for all award-holders. International students may also claim visa and NHS surcharge costs. Students in addition have access to additional funding for conference travel and consumables.

We will be advertising funded PhD projects on our website, on the University's Job Opportunities pages ("Studentships" category), and on jobs.ac.uk from early September 2024 onwards, so please make sure you look out for them. The Academic Development team is happy to answer enquiries on AcDev@cruk.cam.ac.uk.

You may wish to sign up for alerts on the University's Job Opportunities page, to be notified when new studentship opportunities arise at CRUK CI.

To apply for one of the projects, you will need to complete a standard application for the PhD in Medical Science (CRUK CI). There is an "Apply Now" button on the course page that takes you to the application form.

Please read through the PhD in Medical Science (CRUK CI) course details carefully, which will also advise you in the "How To Apply" section what supporting information you will need to provide for your application. It is important that you specify the project title, the project reference and the supervisor name, where requested, in your application; this information is supplied in the studentship advert. You will be able to apply for up to three projects if you wish.

You should make sure you have made a careful note of the application deadline for each studentship project you wish to apply for, as individual project deadlines are likely to be earlier than the overall course application deadline. Typically, the application deadline for projects advertised from September 2024 will have a deadline of 31 October 2024.

Prospective applicants should keep an eye out for other opportunities if they have missed or are unable to apply by 31 October 2024, during the September-October round.

The results of our annual studentship competition taking place between October 2024 and January 2025, and with application deadline 31 October 2024, are likely to be made available in early February 2025. However, if applications for ad hoc funded studentship opportunities are made outside this annual window, then we aim to inform applicants of the result within a time-frame of six weeks.
