About

Wolfson partners with the Cambridge Trust in funding several PhD studentships each year that cover tuition and maintenance costs for doctoral study in any subject. Roughly half of these are awarded to Home-fee status students as Vice-Chancellor's PhD Studentships and the other half are awarded to Overseas-fee status students as Cambridge International PhD Studentships.

In many cases the College will partner with specific Faculties, Departments or Doctoral Training Partnerships to co-fund these awards. In 2025/2026, preference may be given to applicants in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, History, Geopolitics and/or Heritage Studies.

These awards are offered in partnership with the Cambridge Trust. Please see the Cambridge Trust website for more information: Cambridge International Scholarships & Vice-Chancellor’s Awards - Cambridge Trust

The Trust’s awards period runs from March to the end of July and is an ongoing process throughout that period. The majority of our full awards are made in March. Some of our partner funded awards can take time, and sometimes when offers are declined we may be able to offer them elsewhere. Applicants will remain under consideration until the end of the awards period (31 July). We are not able to contact unsuccessful applicants. If you have not been contacted by the Trust by the end of the awards period, you should assume that your application has not been successful.
